5th Annual White Lake Blues Festival
Killer Blues Fundraiser at the Howmet Playhouse, 304 South Mears Avenue, Whitehall,
MI on May 5th. The 5th Annual White Lake Blues Fest is a fundraiser for the Killer
Blues Headstone Project. Headliners: Hank Mowrey & the Hawktones and Doc
Yankee's Piano Party with special guest Mike Skory of Root Doctor. Tickets are
$12 and can be purchased at the Whitehall City Hall or at the Playhouse, 304
S Mears Ave, Whitehall, MI. Doors open at 7:00 pm. Show starts at 7:30 pm.

CAPITAL AREA BLUES SOCIETY 2012 BLUES BRAWL - CALL FOR BANDS!
Attention Blues bands and solo/duo acts in the mid-Michigan area – The
Capital Area Blues Society (CABS) is now seeking entrants for their 2012 Blues
Brawl Competition! The 2012 Blues Brawl takes place Sunday, May 20, at the Green
Door Blues Bar and Grille, 2005 E. Michigan Avenue, Lansing, Michigan. 517-482-6376.

Entrants can apply to compete in the band category or as a solo/duo act. Winning
acts will receive the title of 2012 Blues Brawl Winner, paid performance slots
at the 2012 Old Town Blues Fest and represent Lansing and the Capital Area Blues
Society at the 2013 International Blues Challenge (IBC) in Memphis, Tennessee!

To enter the CABS 2012 Blues Brawl, acts must have at least one member who lives

CONCERT FEATURING THE CRÈME OF AMERICAN DELTA BLUES TALENT
Special Event Kicks Off Scholarship Fund for Educational Initiatives in Mississippi
Delta Region. This April 28th, dozens of Delta Blues Greats from Mississippi
and beyond will converge in Clarksdale, Mississippi to play their hearts out
to people around the world.
The event, dubbed America’s Delta Blues: The Blessissippi Crossroads Concert,
is an initiative by philanthropic media organization explore.org, Actor Morgan
Freeman and the Ground Zero Blues Club in Clarksdale to celebrate the cultural
significance of the blues and raise awareness about issues facing the region.
Created As a benefit for the America’s Delta Blues Scholarship Fund at
Delta State University, the three hour event will be simulcast online via explore.org,
on XM Radio’s Bluesville Channel and on LinkTV a non---profit television
network available on Dish Network and DirecTV.
Co-hosted By acclaimed talent Morgan Freeman and explore.org founder and philanthropist
Charlie Annenberg Weingarten, The Blessissippi Crossroads Concert will feature
pioneers in the music industry, some of the hottest acts on the blues scene,
and a series of short films shot during a recent philanthropic fact finding mission
Weingarten undertook in the fall of 2011.
